114-year-old Pearl Berg, the oldest Jewish woman in the world, passed away in her hometown of Los Angeles - this was reported last night (Monday) by the US media. Berg was considered the third oldest American, after two women who were 116 - and the ninth in the entire world

According to her birth certificate, which was found a few years ago, Berg was born to Archie Sinnenberg and Annie Gerzon, immigrants from Russia and Poland, on October 1, 1909, in Evansville, Indiana. Her birth name was Pearl Louise Sinnenberg. She graduated from high school, and when she was 20, she moved with Her family moved to California, and two years later she married Mark, a Ukrainian immigrant.The two remained married until Mark's death in 1989, 58 years later.
