CDP has signed an agreement to promote sustainable growth in Albania.

The memorandum of understanding, signed during a mission to Albania by Cdp and Simest, intends to develop sustainable growth initiatives for local SMEs and projects capable of facilitating the achievement of the SDGs and with a positive impact on the climate.

A financing agreement was also finalized in favor of Intesa Sanpaolo Bank Albania for 10 million euros.

The funds will make it possible to activate resources of at least 20 million to be allocated to the growth of at least 50 local SMEs in sectors with a high ESG impact through financing at favorable rates.

The agreement, signed by the CEO of CDP Dario Scannapieco, the CEO of Simest Regina Corradini D'Arienzo and the secretary general of the National Economic Council Arben Shkodra, marks the start of the process for the recognition of CDP's role in Albania as an Italian financial institution for international development cooperation.

During the visit to Tirana of the CassaDepositi e Prestiti delegation, the CEO met the Albanian Prime Minister EdiRama, the Minister for Entrepreneurship Delina Ibrahimaj, the Minister of Finance Ervin Mete and the Deputy Minister of Tourism and the Environment Vima Bello.

"After the inauguration of our headquarters in Belgrade - said Scannapieco - this is another important moment in our work in the Western Balkans which also sees a new concrete act in the financing granted to Intesa Sanpaolo BankAlbania to support SMEs in the area".

"The ties between Italy and Albania - added Corradini D'Arienzo - are close, not only due to geographical proximity but also due to a substantial similarity in the composition of the industrial context".

The CEO of Simest specified that "we are committed to strengthening our activity in the country, in order to facilitate new opportunities for cooperation with the production sector and to consolidate commercial relations between Italian and local companies".
