An 18-year-old man died, two others were hospitalized in intensive care and around a hundred people are in isolation due to a
“respiratory infection”
in a military school in the Colombian capital, the town hall of Colombia announced on Monday February 5. Bogota.
An
“epidemic of severe acute respiratory infection, potentially due to influenza, has been noted”
at the General José Maria Cordova military cadet school, according to a press release from the Bogotá Health Secretariat.
In addition to the deceased cadet, 290 people were exposed to the epidemic, of whom 101 showed symptoms and 98 are in isolation, this press release specifies.
Three people are hospitalized, including two in an intensive care unit.
The outbreak was confirmed by the Colombian military, which said in a statement Monday that
“epidemiological fences, zone demarcations and isolation measures have been put in place
