Recently there was a lot of rumbling in the Tegernseer Tal Diakonieverein.

There will be an extraordinary general meeting in March.

It is unclear whether there will be new elections.

Gmund

- An unspecified deficit of 225,000 euros triggered an earthquake after the general meeting of the Tegernseer Tal Diakonieverein in March 2023.

Christine Zierer, long-time member and Gmund's third mayor, is calling for an extraordinary general meeting with 61 supporters.

This will take place, Diakonie board member Marlies Breitensträter now announces.

The extraordinary general meeting is scheduled to take place by mid-March

However, only when the annual financial statements for 2023 are available: “We have to wait for them to be able to present the figures.” She expects to be able to schedule the general meeting for early to mid-March.

The board member leaves it open as to whether the required new elections will also take place at the meeting: “We want to adapt to the course of the evening.” Maybe, says Breitensträter, the members are satisfied with the current leadership after the report on the current situation.

Zierer emphasizes: “I don’t want to harm the Diakonieverein”

Zierer would have liked a general meeting in January.

At the beginning of December she submitted the application for its convocation to the Diakonieverein's office in Gmund.

She accepts that the appointment is a long time coming so as not to stir up even more dust: “I don’t want to harm the Diakonieverein.” Instead, she is concerned with the long-term future of the association, the major social institution in the Tegernsee Valley to secure.

Abrupt change of leadership at Gmunder Tafel raised questions

The big loss accrued in 2022.

At the general meeting in 2023, dissatisfaction arose not only because of the financial difficulties.

It was also about dealing with employees; an abrupt change in management at the Gmunder Tafel raised questions.

On top of that, at the insistence of the Diakonisches Werk Bayern, a far-reaching change to the statutes had to be passed.

As a result, responsibility now lies in the hands of a board of directors.

Eberhard Ziegler has been full-time managing director since 2023

Until then, Eberhard Ziegler (79) had run the club on a voluntary basis for more than 30 years.

The aim of the new statutes is professionalization.

As a social organization, the association runs a company with almost 45 permanent and just as many voluntary employees; the annual turnover is around 1.4 million euros.

The offering includes an outpatient care service and day care, the Ringelsocke social department store and the Gmunder Tafel.

A full-time managing director, appointed by the volunteer board of directors, should take care of day-to-day operations.

However, the start with the new structure in March 2023 was more than bumpy.

Of the three elected board members, two resigned immediately.

Only Marlies Breitensträter remained in office.

She made Ziegler managing director, who has also received a salary since then.

The application also calls for a new election of the board of directors

It's not just Zierer who is worried about the future of the club, which has around 300 members.

Because more than ten percent of the members want an extraordinary general meeting, this must be called according to the statutes.

The application not only calls for the disclosure of finances, but also for a new election of the board of directors, which would actually not be due until 2027.

The aim is to completely fill the board of directors, which should consist of at least three to a maximum of six members.

The new committee appoints the managing director.

Zierer had explained in advance that there were candidates for all six seats - and made no secret of the fact that she believes the time has come for a change in management.

The Diakonieverein is currently in the black again

Meanwhile, Ziegler has provided explanations for the deficit: the main reason was the low utilization of day care due to Corona.

The Diakonie is currently in the black again.

The Board of Directors was recently expanded to the maximum number of six seats without a general meeting taking place.

As the Diakonie reports, in addition to Marlies Breitensträter, Bernhard Wolf, Egon Strauß, Inge Kirchberger, Hans-Joachim Böttcher and Wolfgang Breitensträter are there.
