At the Kreuzlinger Forst rest area on the A96 motorway near Starnberg, a car caught fire - the flames caused a total loss.
Starnberg - In the late afternoon of February 4th, a dramatic event occurred at the Kreuzlinger Forst rest area on the A96 motorway in the direction of Munich.
A car from the Starnberg district caught fire after the occupants smelled a burning smell while driving.

They drove to the nearest rest area, but shortly after leaving the vehicle it was already engulfed in flames.
The two people's quick reaction may have saved their lives.
Fortunately, both remained uninjured.
The alerted fire brigades from Gilching, Geisenbrunn and Weßling were quickly on site and were able to quickly bring the fire under control and finally extinguish it with two teams with respiratory protective equipment.
The follow-up extinguishing work was actively supported by the Gilching volunteer fire department.
Flames cause total damage - fortunately no injuries
Fortunately, there were no injuries during this operation.
The Kreuzlinger Forst car park had to be temporarily completely closed while the fire was extinguishing the fire.
The cause of the fire is currently suspected to be a technical defect in the vehicle.
The full fire not only caused total damage to the vehicle, but also damaged the asphalt surface of the parking lot.
The exact amount of damage caused cannot yet be quantified.
After extinguishing work was completed and the site was secured, it could be handed over to the police and the highway maintenance department.
