A terrible situation.
According to the Red Cross, around 8,000 people were evacuated on Monday from a hospital in Khan Younes, in southern Gaza, which is surrounded by fighting.
But around 300 others are still there.
Thousands of displaced people had found refuge in the Palestinian Red Crescent al-Amal hospital.
“There are currently still around a hundred elderly and disabled people who have not been able to leave the hospital, 80 patients and 100 staff and volunteers.
They are still inside,” explained a spokesperson for the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), Tommaso Della Longa, during a press briefing in Geneva.
Khan Younès targeted for two weeks
“The humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip is beyond catastrophic,” he said.
The enclave is besieged and devastated after four months of war between Israel and Palestinian Hamas, a conflict sparked by the Islamist movement's unprecedented attack on Israel on October 7, which resulted in the deaths of more than 1,160 people, majority of civilians, according to an AFP count based on official Israeli data.

Khan Younes, the main city in the south of this Palestinian territory, which, according to Israel, is home to leaders of the Palestinian Islamist movement, has largely been transformed into a field of ruins.

The al-Amal hospital is one of the most important in the city, along with the Nasser medical center, also trapped in the fighting.
According to Hamas, the latter will shelter hundreds of wounded and 10,000 displaced people.
