A brutal end to the evening.

This Monday evening in Gonesse, 150 people had to be evacuated in the middle of the night due to a fire.

The disaster broke out around 11 p.m. in the underground car park of their 89-unit HLM residence located on Impasse Louis Jouvet, not far from the Leclerc hypermarket.

Three cars were on fire when firefighters arrived.

They worked for more than 4.5 hours to put out the flames and smoke using two water hoses.

Fortunately, in the end, no injuries were reported.

Only a 95-year-old woman was transported as a precaution to Gonesse hospital.

However, a reconnaissance of the basements with the Colossus robot quickly showed significant damage to the buildings' water and electricity distribution networks.

Their scale was still being assessed by technicians from the lessor IRP this Tuesday.

In fact, only around fifty people were able to return to their accommodation during the night.

The others found refuge in the Christine Caron gymnasium, opened urgently by the city to accommodate them.

A hoped-for return to housing this Tuesday evening

Thanks to the mobilization of municipal agents, Secours populaire, the Red Cross and Val-d'Oise civil security, food, camp beds and even games for children awaited them.

“The objective is that they will be able to return home this evening”, hoped the town hall of Gonesse this Tuesday, paying tribute to the “calm of the inhabitants who left their homes in the middle of the night with their children under their arms, to the great responsiveness of the caretaker of the residence and the municipal police officers who arrived quickly on site.

Meals were also delivered during the day to the affected people.

According to our information, the arson trail is favored.

Another investigation is also open after another parking fire again this Monday evening, this time in Garges-lès-Gonesse.

A fire in a box in the basement of a five-story building at 35, rue du Tiers Pot.

Five people who inhaled smoke were treated by emergency services, including a 71-year-old woman who was then transported in an emergency to Gonesse hospital.

This Tuesday morning, 30 homes were still without hot water and heating.
