That could mean a lot of rain on those crazy days.
Wiesbaden - After the months of December and January were already quite mild, February 2024 has now started around five degrees warmer than the new climate average for the years 1991 to 2020, based on the first four days of the month. “That's pretty good says qualified meteorologist Dominik Jung.
Weather forecast for Carnival: Experts expect a lot of rain
The weather expert expects that the deviation will continue to increase in the coming days.
“The upcoming air mass limit on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday will do little to change this, as it will only bring cool daily values of around 0 degrees to a very small part of Germany,” reports Jung.
It is precisely at this air mass boundary that snow, sleet and a lot of rain occur.
“According to the latest forecasts, it could be quite wet and uncomfortable just in time for the start of the street carnival,” regrets the meteorologist.
“The costumes don’t necessarily have to be super warm, but they should be rainproof.”
So what do the fools have to prepare for?
“Rain will continue to fall on Thursday, and there may even be snow in a narrow strip,” reveals the expert.
However, it is not yet possible to say with certainty where exactly the weather limit will ultimately be.
However, it is expected to become milder everywhere again on Friday.
Nevertheless, according to Jung, a lot of clouds and occasional rain can be expected.
The meteorologist currently sees little chance of sunshine and a continued high chance of rain for Saturday and Sunday.
Weather experts expect a changeable carnival weekend.

But even before the street carnival begins, clouds and rain determine the weather in Hesse.
According to the German Weather Service (DWD), there will only be mostly no precipitation on Tuesday in the southwest, otherwise there will be some rain and drizzle in the north and east over the course of the day.
It remains mild with highs between 8 and 13 degrees, and around 4 degrees in summit areas.
In high altitudes, stormy gusts can be expected into the night.
February gets off to a mild start: weather experts give winter fans hope
It will also remain overcast on Wednesday and widespread rain will move in from the northwest, and it will be heavy at times and in some areas. In traffic jams, there may be continuous rain.
According to the DWD, wet snowfall is also possible in the north in the afternoon.
The maximum values are between 7 degrees in the north and in the higher mountains and 11 degrees in the south.
So was that it with winter?
Not necessarily, says meteorologist Jung.
“Winter friends can have some hope around the middle of the month.
The European weather model is expecting significant cooling again and possibly snow.
However, none of this is really certain yet,” said the weather expert.
