Two suitcases full of cash were seized at Munich Airport.
The customs officers confiscated 1.4 million euros in cash.
A 44-year-old was arrested.
Airport - Christian Schüttenkopf, spokesman for the Munich Customs Investigation Office, said that employees of the security company at the airport had already noticed the immense sum on December 27th last year when they were checking luggage by X-rays.
Customs officers took both suitcases into custody and went to the departure area to look for the owner.
“At the counter of a flight waiting to depart for Istanbul, a 44-year-old German of Iranian descent was identified and arrested as the suspected owner of the two suitcases,” said Schüttenkopf.
An investigating judge issued an arrest warrant.
When the apartments were searched, more money and a counting machine were seized.
It is completely unclear where the money came from and what it was intended for.
