Daniel Margoshin, 34 years old from Ashdod, who is suspected of murdering Ilana Azgadian and setting fire to her apartment on Dizengoff Street in Tel Aviv last month, was brought today (Tuesday) for a hearing on the extension of his detention at the city's Magistrate's Court.

At the same time, a prosecutor's statement was submitted against him - this is in preparation for the indictment that will be filed against him next Thursday along with a request for detention until the end of the proceedings.



According to the suspicion, during the investigation it became clear that Margoshin had a prior and intimate acquaintance with Azgadian and he had talked with her several times before.



The signs of violence on the body of 35-year-old Azgadian, who lived in Tel Aviv after arriving in Israel from Russia, indicate that the police estimate that this was a murder.

Margoshin allegedly stabbed her about 20 times.

On the same day, the police arrested Margoshin while he was still covered in blood, as a suspect in the act.

The two met a few years ago, when they wanted to meet new Russian-speaking friends living in Israel.

The company says they spent a lot of time together.

"Ilana was a very confident girl," said the friend.

"She didn't share her fears or concerns with people. She was the kind of girl who never cried in life. She was also very smart, and had a wide general knowledge. She was constantly asking questions in the classes at the studio and wanted to learn as much as possible."



Margoshin, the suspect in Azgadian's murder, was arrested that same evening at the central station in Jerusalem, after detectives tracked him throughout the day.



While being questioned, he pulled out a large knife at the detectives and began to move towards them quickly.

Due to the danger he posed - the detectives responded by shooting at him.

The crimes attributed to him are arson and murder with special cruelty or abuse.
