Javier Milei's intention to move forward with a
bill to sanction the labor reform
included in DNU 70/23 and which was stopped by Justice, put
the CGT on alert this Monday
, which urgently brought together its leadership to evaluate its next steps and define the continuity of the plan to fight against the Government after the general strike of January 24.
The Cegetista leadership, which had achieved at the end of January a ruling by the National Chamber of Labor Appeals declaring the unconstitutionality of the labor chapter of the megadecree,
received with surprise
this Monday the insistent official versions that the Government would seek to approve by law the stopped articles and
activated a meeting of its expanded small table
at the headquarters of the Health union.
According to the reports analyzed by the unionists, who insist on defining their dialogue with the Casa Rosada as "absolutely cut off", Mieli's commitment is to present the labor reform project during his speech
at the opening of ordinary sessions of Congress
on the next 1st. of March.
"It is the information that transcends, but we are not clear if it will only include what was already incorporated in the DNU or they will go with a broader reform," a representative of the union leadership warned Clarín
minutes
before the meeting.
The leader stressed, in any case, that the center will wait for the text of the official initiative before defining possible measures and that it will advance with the round of contacts with the legislative blocs of all political forces to insist on its rejection of the labor changes. promoted by the Government.
"Surely they are going to raise it in ordinary sessions because they do not come in extraordinary sessions, but the CGT is going to express its
total rejection as in the presentation that was made in court
to claim unconstitutionality," said the union member.
Another leader, in turn, considered that the official intention to encourage labor reform through a bill aims to "cover up the failure" that the judicial ruling that stopped its application meant for the Government.
"They seek to neutralize the effect of the setback that was the sentence with the promise of generating some other instance for it to prosper," he noted in this regard.
The official commitment to sanction the labor reform by law added a new ingredient to the open debate within the CGT regarding the
future of its offensive against the libertarian management
.
After the strike, which included a massive mobilization to Congress in rejection of the DNU and the Omnibus Law,
the positions within the entity were divided
between the hardest sectors, which are pushing to move forward with the definition of new force measures, and those more dialogue-oriented leaders of the leadership, who advise waiting for the result of the legislative process of the law and the next movements of the Government before making decisions.
In any case, leaders from both sectors admit that
the dialogue with the Government remains broken and that there are no concrete expectations to advance any rapprochement
.
"As we are, the level of conflict will continue to escalate," said another union member, although he slipped that at the moment the center does not plan to set a date for a new strike.
On the other hand, Pablo Moyano, number two of the Truckers union and member of the Cegetista leadership triumvirate, renewed the pressure for a new general strike over the weekend.
"Nothing is ruled out.
There may be a strike and mobilizations
. In the next few days, when there is a meeting of the Board of Directors (of the CGT), we will analyze how to continue," he assured.
And he warned, along the same lines, that the labor union "is not going to sit idly by" if "social conflict increases."
Also the head of the La Fraternidad train drivers union, Omar Maturano, defended the fight plan that the CGT launched against Milei's labor reform and warned the President that "
patience has a limit
."
The trade unionist valued the process of Cegetista unity to face the complicated national scenario in the face of what he considered as "an embarrassing political, economic and social mess of this government."
