A trainee repeatedly draws attention to the poor technical equipment at his vocational school.
The answer to this is “incomprehensible” to him.
Jonas Lohrmann wants to become an IT specialist for system integration.
To do this, he must learn to manage IT systems.
He thinks it doesn't work without WiFi or modern computer software.
The problem: Where he does his training (at the Gutjahr vocational schools (BbS) in Halle) both are missing.
The students bring their own laptops and use the Internet using their private data volume.

Lohrmann has been criticizing the technical equipment at his vocational school for more than just a few months, as the headmaster's reaction suggests.
As early as March 2023, he and his training company contacted Rüdiger Bauch with a letter of complaint.
A conversation and a tour took place in the BbS.

He himself has been aware of the school's poor technical equipment since 2017.
Unfortunately, local resources are limited: 50,000 to 70,000 euros per year are not enough to achieve much with a number of students of 2,700.
That's why he made a few requests to improve the situation.
Over 2.6 million euros were approved for 2023 to equip BbS Gutjahr with new cables and devices.
Jonas Lohrmann no longer benefits from this.
If he has known about the poor equipment for so long, why is he annoyed with the trainee?
“We are long past the point where investments of this magnitude were even discussed.
“It’s just a matter of how,” says Bauch.
In his opinion, students, training companies, teachers, parents, he as the school management, as well as the city and the Ministry of Education are responsible for this.
“Ideally, these actors work closely together.”

The Ministry of Education in Saxony-Anhalt does not feel responsible
Lohrmann has been trying to initiate this collaboration for months.
In October 2023 he will contact the Ministry of Education in Saxony-Anhalt.
He exchanges ideas with Stefan Leitel, the minister's personal advisor.
“After our conversation, Mr. Leitel wanted to inquire and then contact me again.
To date, however, I have not received any feedback,” says Lohrmann.

is asking the Ministry of Education what measures were initiated after the phone call in the fall.
A spokesman for the ministry said they “exchanged themselves about tasks and responsibilities” and “determined the current status”.
Since BbS Gutjahr's conversation with the training company in March 2023 became known at this point, the ministry "did not see any further reason for this due to a lack of reason and responsibility," he said.
The Ministry of Education sees responsibility as the school's sponsor, i.e. the city of Halle.
In addition, a distinction must be made between “deficiencies and different demands”.
So far, only a few complaints have been received from other schools.

The 2023 training report from the German Federation of Trade Unions (DGB) paints a different picture: almost four out of ten trainees rate the digital equipment at their vocational schools there as “sufficient” or “poor”.
In an interview with the Frankfurter Rundschau,
Ralf Becker from the Education and Science Union (GEW) points
out the big differences between the different schools.
“Some departments are well equipped, others are like a museum.”
The reason for this is the different financial strength of the municipalities on the one hand and the preference for other types of schools on the other.
There is a lot of need for renovation, explains Becker.
In order to cover this, the available money must finally be distributed according to needs - a task for politicians.
