On video: Yair Lapid at the "Six After the War: A Political-Security Vision for Israel" conference/PR
"I told Netanyahu, 'This is not a pretense, this is not for media purposes. I am telling you seriously, take out the extremists and I will come in,'" said the opposition leader today on the Seven-Nine program with Udi Segal and Anat Davidov on radio 103FM.
"Unlike him, there is no person from the political system who can say that I gave him a word and I broke it."
"I told him, 'I will go in instead of the extremists so that a prisoner deal can be allowed because it is the highest duty of the Israeli government to bring them home,'" Lapid insisted and continued.
"What happened on October 7? The Israeli government abandoned its citizens and their security. This is the first duty of a government, so there needs to be a government that will have another government here that will protect the security of the citizens of Israel. He doesn't look like he wants to say goodbye to Smotrich and Ben Gvir."
