Le Figaro Marseille
Are we heading towards paralysis of the major maritime port of Marseille-Fos?
The CGT of dockworkers and port handling staff in the Gulf of Fos is calling on dockers to go on strike this Wednesday, Le Figaro learned from the union, confirming information from
La Provence
.
“There will be a total shutdown of the port
,” says Christophe Claret, CGT general secretary of dockers.
“Our demands focus on two axes,”
continues the trade unionist.
The first concerns the non-application of the pension reform to dockworkers.
We had a commitment from the then Minister of Transport, Clément Beaune, on this point.”

The development of the port in the sights of the union
“The second concerns our request for the development of the Grand maritime port of Marseille in the western basins, near Fos-sur-Mer
,” continues Christophe Claret.
For several months, the CGT has in fact deplored the strategy of the large maritime port of Marseille-Fos which, according to the union, favors the development of the structure in Marseille, to the detriment of its more western part.
A document presenting the CGT's recommendations on this point will also be distributed at a press conference this Wednesday morning in front of the Istres sub-prefecture.
