Media consultant Itzik Alrov was questioned today (Tuesday) with a warning at the Petah Tikva police on suspicion of the offense of incitement for a tweet he posted on the social network X (formerly Twitter) against the Minister of Transportation Miri Regev.

In the tweet, Regev's image appeared covered in white and red popcorn, along with the caption "Popcorn dipped in the blood of the fallen."

Alrov tweeted: "Thank you to everyone for the messages and support and phone calls. Everything is perfectly fine with me. The policeman did his job in a good and respectful manner. But the evil spirit of this government penetrates into the institutions of the rule of law, and this should trouble every citizen who wants democracy, from the left and the right. Government Zoya who behaves like a bunch of drunk court jesters with bags of popcorn and bottles of vodka, while there are more than 130 Israeli hostages in the Hamas tunnels. You all need to fly home, preferably one hour earlier."

Alrov, who became a public figure following the cottage protest he led in the summer of 2011, was asked in his investigation if he didn't think his tweet could "make people take it a step further", and indicated that in his opinion it was a legitimate criticism.

Alrov's post referred to the "popcorn incident" at the meeting of the political-security cabinet, where Regev was observed eating popcorn while saying "now the show begins".

She also distributed popcorn to the ministers.

Regev explained that she ate the popcorn because she is on a diet.
