Also available in Italian is Take it down, the international platform created by the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (Ncmec) which allows millions of teenagers to have control of their intimate images.
This was announced by Meta, the parent company of Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp, on the occasion of Safer Internet Day and at a time when a spotlight has been turned on by technology companies for the protection of children online.
Take it down was introduced last year in English and Spanish and is aimed at under-18s and parents who fear intimate images of young people have been circulated online.
Teens just need to send the hash, the string of the image, so Facebook and Instagram can find copies online, delete them, and prevent those who threaten them from posting them in the future.
“Making Take it Down available in 25 languages is a critical step in safeguarding children from the horrors of online exploitation around the world,” says John Shehan, Senior Vice President of Ncmec.
"Today's updates are part of our ongoing work to give young people the tools they need if someone shares, or threatens to share, their intimate images", adds Meta who in Italy has also collaborated with Telefono Azzurro "to provide practical advice to parents to defend adolescents from incidents of sextortion".
