Highlights: Île-de-France Mobilités has just ordered new trains for lines 12, 13 and 8. The board of directors also placed an order for 3,500 “clean” buses and coaches. The amount of the order will exceed one billion euros and will be 100% financed by the authority which organizes transport. The first copies of the new trains will arrive on line 10 in the second half of 2025, says IDFM. But IDFM warns that the schedule will have to be monitored - as we can read in the IDFM report.

These lines are among the most impacted by the incidents. Île-de-France Mobilités has just ordered new trains to improve the

The new metros will not arrive immediately.

The manufacturer Alstom, selected for this contract, must first complete those intended for lines 10, 7, 7bis, 3 and 3 bis for which 44 trains have already been financed on December 12, 2019. But the principle is now act.

This Tuesday afternoon, the board of directors of Île-de-France Mobilités (IDFM) voted to acquire 103 new metros for lines 12, 13 and 8. These will be deployed on the lines between 2027 and 2029. Their entry into service should make it possible to improve punctuality, which has been at half mast in recent months.

The first copies will arrive on line 10 in the second half of 2025. But IDFM warns that the schedule will have to be monitored - as we can read in the IDFM report - "in view of the difficulties in the supply chains experienced by the industrial in the post-COVID context and in connection with the Russian-Ukrainian conflict.

It is now necessary to anticipate further the lead times for ordering components and supplies to control the risks of shortages in the industrial process.”

The new MF19s will offer greater comfort to travelers.

The doors will be larger and allow for faster passenger movement.

The metro will also be open from one end to the other, in a “boa” shape and will have USB sockets, better lighting under the seats in particular, better refrigeration and a more modern information system. .

It will also integrate “dynamic” line plans which allow you to see the position of the train on the line.

It will now be up to RATP to place the order with Alstom, “as quickly as possible to secure supply issues”, we can read in the IDFM report.

The amount of the order will exceed one billion euros and will be 100% financed by the authority which organizes transport.

The renewal of the bus fleet also continues.

The same board of directors placed an order for 3,500 “clean” buses and coaches (gas, electric or hybrid) over the period 2025-2028.

Here again the total estimated amount amounts to 1.8 billion euros excluding tax.

The order also includes 1,085 coaches to serve the fifty planned “express coach” lines.

Valérie Pécresse (LR), the president of Île-de-France Mobilités, has set the objective of ending diesel on all buses in Paris and the inner suburbs by 2025. And for 2029 for the entire region.

“From 2025, diesel and hybrid vehicles will run on HVO, an alternative fuel composed of vegetable oils,” recalls IDFM.

Île-de-France Mobilités is thus definitively renouncing diesel, while waiting to have a 100% biomethane and electric fleet.”

This new stage will allow nearly 1,000 buses and coaches to be put into circulation per year.
