At its most recent municipal council meeting, the municipality of Rottenbuch approved a change in the plan for the new Don Bosco School building.

The new design enables the building to be integrated even better into its historical surroundings.

Rottenbuch – Approval for the development plan had already been given when a planner approached the municipality of Rottenbuch with a new proposal.

After a thorough examination and a meeting with the board of directors of the Regens Wagner Foundation, the proposal was recently submitted to the local council for a vote.

The main change from the original plan is the conversion from a one-story building to a two-story building.

The resulting gain in space enables a greater distance to the listed brewery.

“The other surrounding buildings also benefit from this,” said Mayor Markus Bader, and at the same time pointed out how important the orthogonal orientation of the building is to him.

“A new building in such a historic setting must fit harmoniously into the overall structure.

That's why we discussed and weighed everything up for a long time." Ultimately, the new plan is a win for everyone.

School operations can continue during the construction phase

A clearer entrance situation and a new playground will be created in the school area.

The surrounding existing buildings would move away more clearly from the Don Bosco School and would therefore be more effective.

The new design is also to be welcomed from an urban planning perspective.

There is even the possibility that school operations could continue during the construction phase.

However, the prerequisite for this is centimeter-precise planning, as the access routes for excavators and trucks must be clearly demarcated from the school routes and the prescribed safety distances must be taken into account.

A binding statement about this can only be made after the planning phase has been completed.

In any case, people were surprised at the actions of the monument office: “No one really knew what was going on,” smiles the mayor.

“One plan was completely rejected, the next one was a 'yes' with restrictions, and this one was waved through straight away.” But that wouldn't bother him because they found a good solution with the current draft.

It was then unanimously approved by the council.

The new building is now entering the next phase.
