“After loving, helping is the most beautiful verb in the world” – this is the motto of the sponsorship of the primary school at the Grüner Markt in Erding with the Bwejuu Primary School on Zanzibar, which has now been launched.

Erding - The initiators of the sponsorship are the Zanzibar traveler Agnieszka Styra and the student mother Ira Maria Scholz with great support from principal Petra Borgolte-Faupel and the teaching staff of the primary school.

The two women, Styra and Scholz, who are friends, will fly together to Zanzibar on March 1st to hand over donations in kind to the school, as these cannot be transported unaccompanied by plane.

The primary school is located in the village of Bwejuu on the Tanzanian island of Unguja, which is part of the Zanzibar archipelago in East Africa.

The school building is a kind of barracks, the floor is made of earth and there is no teaching material.

“They have nothing,” reports Styra, who became aware of Bwejuu Primary School during a trip.

But the atmosphere there is very good.

The idea of supporting this school and thus the children there matured.

Whether pens, exercise books, English children's literature, office and craft materials, pencil cases, sports equipment such as balls and fully functional laptops or tablets with charging cables - the school family is currently collecting a wide variety of teaching utensils.

Transport to Zanzibar is sponsored by the airlines Condor and Lufthansa.

Condor has promised to take 150 kilograms of donated luggage free of charge.

Lufthansa wants to support the transfer from Munich to Frankfurt.

Styra and Scholz will be on the road for just under six days, two of which will be spent on arrival and departure, to deliver the donations directly to the primary school in Zanzibar and to make further contacts for the school sponsorship.

Another supporter of the campaign is the local hotel “Sahari Zanzibar”, which collects the donations in kind from the airport and offers special conditions for accommodation for the two travelers.

The sponsorship should also be incorporated into the teaching design at the primary school at the Grüner Markt, explains Rector Petra Borgolte-Faupel.

The children should get to know what life is like somewhere else.

“We will come back with photos and videos,” promises Scholz.

A second sponsorship campaign is planned for the summer: The elementary school is planning a project week on the topic of happiness.

The end of this week will be a benefit concert at the district music school, in which the primary school children will take part, explains Scholz, who works as a singing teacher at the KMS, looks after the children's and youth choirs there and has encouraged cooperation with the KMS.

The most important goal of the summer campaign is to collect large amounts of money for the Tanzanian primary school, whose motto is: “Education is the key of life”.

The initiators of the project and the primary school at the Green Market are working together to ensure that this key opens crucial doors for the children in Zanzibar.
