A little over 5 euros.
This is the cost, reported per voter, of the vote organized last Sunday (

, February 4) in Paris on the differentiated rate for SUV parking.
This ballot cost the City around 400,000 euros, the first deputy (PS) to the mayor, Emmanuel Grégoire, confirmed to AFP on Tuesday, on the sidelines of the Paris Council.
The operation required the contribution of around 11,000 town hall agents, Yves Charpenel, president of the control commission, told AFP on Monday.
“We are delighted to have had 78,000 voters, it is extremely important,” Emmanuel Grégoire told AFP.

Participation stood at 5.68% of the 1.3 million Parisian voters.
In total, of the 78,000 voters mobilized, 54.5% of Parisians were in favor of tripling the price of parking for SUVs in the capital.
A measure which will come into force on September 1, confirmed the mayor (PS), Anne Hidalgo.
“Too expensive” proxies
This consultation was the second of its kind organized in the capital, after the one which validated the eviction of self-service scooters in April 2023. For comparison, the latter had cost 390,692 euros for just over 103,000 voters .
The proxies were not possible because they were “extremely expensive”, specified Yves Charpenel who, although he did not report any incident, recognized a “source of discontent”.
Indeed, many Parisians denounced the chaotic organization of the vote resulting from the “splintering of voting locations” compared to the previous vote.

If David Belliard, deputy (EELV) in charge of mobility and roads, considered “the challenge met” despite low participation, several opponents questioned the legitimacy of this vote.
Pierre-Yves Bournazel, elected (Horizons) from the 18th century and candidate for the 2026 municipal elections, notably called it a “communication exercise that makes you
pschitt
”.
A fortiori, the measure will not be so simple to implement.
Indeed, so that parking meters can know the weight of the vehicle at the time of compulsory registration of the license plate, the City of Paris intends to rely on the gray card file, currently held by the prefecture. from police.
