Rishon Lezion is the fourth largest city in Israel with approximately 300,000 residents, of whom approximately 20,000 do not have a protected space in their homes or nearby.
As part of the preliminary preparation for a situation where all-out fighting would break out in several sectors, Rishon Lezion has been busy for the past three months mapping dozens of parking lots and educational institutions throughout the city to accommodate residents who lack protection.
(The absence of an emergency room at home, the absence of a shelter in a shared building, the absence of a public shelter a minute and a half away and/or another protected area).
In the event that a multi-arena war breaks out and with the notification of the Home Front Command to evacuate to protected areas, any resident who does not have a protected area will receive Near his immediate surroundings, a message to his mobile phone where he should evacuate. The resident will be required to reach a designated protected area that the municipality has defined for him according to his place of residence, where he and his family can stay for an extended stay.

The mayor of the city, Raz Kinstlich: "The 'Iron Swords' war proved to us how important it is to be prepared and alert at any given moment. With the outbreak of the war, we started a special program for crowd protection, so that if the war were to expand to the northern sector as well - all our residents would be protected and everyone would have an area Protected for a prolonged stay. We all hope that we won't have to and that this difficult war will end without aggravation, but Rishon Lezion has proven that it is always prepared for any scenario."
