Bathing fun in every season: More than 60,000 bathers cavorted in the Lenggrieser “Isarwelle” in 2023.

Take a leisurely swim or just splash around in the water.
The two indoor swimming pools in Lenggries and Bad Tölz are popular with young and old and welcomed around 100,000 visitors last year.
Lenggries/Bad Tölz – The Lenggrieser “Isarwelle” had around 63,000 guests last year, reports Michael Wenig, treasurer of the municipality of Lenggries.
The majority of visitors, especially families, come in their free time.
Otherwise, the pool is mainly used for school swimming in the mornings, but club use is limited.
If you look at the distribution of visitors, it holds a little surprise.
Statistics presented at the local council meeting last July show that the “Isarwelle” is well attended not only during the cold season, but also in the summer months.
Mayor Stefan Klaffenbacher explained at the time that August was the month with the most visitors to the indoor swimming pool.
And this despite the fact that Lenggries also operates an outdoor swimming pool.
However, this circumstance repeatedly led to staff shortages and, as a result, to the temporary closure of one of the two pools, says Klaffenbacher.
Personnel situation is not always easy
The parallel operation of the natural outdoor pool and the indoor pool is always a new challenge, confirms town hall managing director Tobias Riesch.
But this was handled well again last year.
Fortunately, the personnel situation has eased somewhat.
“We recently hired two new colleagues,” reports Riesch.

The indoor swimming pool on Flinthöhe also attracted numerous visitors last year, as Reinhard Oberleitner, head of leisure operations at Stadtwerke Bad Tölz, reports.
Of the total of 37,000 bathers, around half, around 18,000, can be attributed to public pool operations, while around 19,000 come from school classes and clubs.
“Many people switched to us because of the closure of the swimming pool at the Tölzer secondary school,” explains Oberleitner.
The Gmund water rescue service was also a frequent guest.
Because of the demolition of the bathing park in Bad Wiessee, the Tölzer Bad has become a new training option.
Tölzer indoor swimming pool open 252 days
The department head sees himself well equipped with six employees.
However, the number of staff is only sufficient for the safe operation of one of the two Tölzer pools, said Oberleitner.
According to the “either-or principle”, either the indoor swimming pool or the Eichmühle natural outdoor swimming pool opens in summer, depending on the weather.
“This has been well established in the past.” Due to the sunny weather in the summer season from June to September, the indoor swimming pool was only open on seven days.
Last year, bathers were able to use the swimming pool on a total of 252 days.
In order to “inform guests promptly and safely which of the pools is open,” communication has become broader.
In addition to the classic answering machine, social media is increasingly being used.
