No need to find an invitation code to register on the BlueSky social network.
The application, launched in 2023, announced this Tuesday that it is now open to all Internet users.
“During our beta phase, we used an invitation system to build our infrastructure while controlling our growth.
From now on, we welcome everyone
,” explains its general director Jay Graber in a press release.

It was Twitter's difficulties since the social network became the property of Elon Musk that allowed BlueSky to make a name for itself.
Many users, tired of suffering harassment campaigns or seeing the presence of toxic speech, have looked for an alternative platform in recent months.
BlueSky quickly emerged as a fallback solution, alongside Mastodon.
An audience far from Threads
BlueSky now claims to have 3 million users, but without specifying whether they are active or not.
This figure is very low compared to the 130 million users gained in six months by Threads, another platform similar to X created this time by the Meta group.
The social media titan is playing with much more powerful weapons.
Any Instagram user can in fact create their Threads account in one click and instantly find their subscriptions... This process is much smoother than on BlueSky, where everything has to be rebuilt from scratch.
BlueSky is an open-source platform,
“where anyone can offer new features, such as the integration of videos and music from Youtube and Spotify, or more than 25,000 feeds themed on Formula 1 or Taylor Swift”
. says the company.
And just like Threads, BlueSky intends to become a decentralized social network.
“At the end of February, developers will be able to host their own Bluesky servers”
and establish their own rules on moderation or sorting of content.
“Users will have the freedom to choose or leave servers, instead of being subject to the whims of private companies or inscrutable algorithms
,” the company explains.
Operation similar to that of Mastodon.
