The Supreme Court of Cassation on Tuesday confirmed the two sentences iarising from the collapse of two former Iacp (Ater) buildings in the Lazio town of Amatrice caused by the earthquake of 24 August 2016 that killed 19 people.
The supreme judges reaffirmed the sentences of nine years' imprisonment for Ottaviano Boni, the technical director of the construction company Sogeap at the time, and five years for Maurizio Scacchi, a surveyor for the Lazio Region-CivilEngineering Department.
The 2016 earthquake across Lazio, Umbria, Marche and Abruzzo killed 299 people.
