A gendarme
killed an alleged motochorro this Tuesday
and injured another 15-year-old when they intercepted him for apparent robbery purposes while waiting for the bus.
It happened at a stop in the Buenos Aires town of La Reja, Moreno district.
In the early hours of this Tuesday, the sergeant of the Argentine National Gendarmerie (GNA) was
dressed in civilian clothes and was waiting for the bus
to go to work at the stop located on Jerónimo Cabrera and Sófocles streets.
The 42-year-old officer was approached by two armed suspects who were traveling on a red Yamaha FZ motorcycle,
with no visible license plate
, Télam said.
While the suspect who was riding as a passenger got out of the vehicle with a firearm in his hand and pointed it at the gendarme to rob him, the other remained on the motorcycle waiting for his accomplice to complete the maneuver to escape.
But at that moment the gendarme
took out his service weapon
and fired at least six shots, which hit the motorcycle driver and his accomplice.
The suspects tried to quickly flee.
However, they fell after a few meters, sources indicated.
The driver, who has not yet been identified, died at the scene after receiving several gunshot wounds.
Meanwhile, his accomplice turned out to be a 15-year-old teenager and he was wounded by four bullets in the shoulder, ribs and elbow.
The officer, for his part, was unharmed and notified the area police who, upon arriving at the scene, found a
Colt .32 caliber revolver at the scene,
without legal impediment and with ammunition in its drum, which apparently the assailants were carrying, the sources said.
The prosecutor assured that the gendarme acted in legitimate defense
Prosecutor Luisa Pontecorvo, in charge of the Functional Instruction Unit (UFI) 3 of Moreno, also ordered the seizure of the gendarme's weapon to carry out the corresponding investigations.
The injured 15-year-old was taken to the Mariano and Luciano de la Vega hospital in Moreno, where he underwent surgery, while the body of the deceased was taken to the morgue for an autopsy and identification.
Sources linked to the investigation said that it was established that
the injured teenager has a history
from last January 12, when he was arrested for possession of a firearm and concealment.
However, because he is 15 years old, he cannot be held accountable for both that incident and the one that occurred this morning.
Meanwhile, the prosecutor notified the gendarme of the start of the file, but
did not order his arrest,
considering that he acted in legitimate defense.
