Vandals had damaged the Massenhausen war memorial.
The district warrior chairman Otto Radlmeier took a stand and also had good news to announce.
Massenhausen
– The celebratory service at the anniversary of the Massenhausen-Fürholzen-Hetzenhausen Warriors, Soldiers and History Association was celebrated by the senior military dean Artur Wagner.
His sermon was about the guiding principle of listening without prejudice, a prerequisite for diplomatic solutions.
As part of his speech at the war memorial, Mayor Franz Heilmeier took this up and emphasized - with all understanding of the right to self-defense - the need for dialogue as a prerequisite for ending the wars in Ukraine and the Gaza Strip.
“Thoughtless abuse”
Chairman Otto Radlmeier discussed the importance of the Iron Cross on the war memorial, which was so damaged by vandalism in September 2023 that it had to be replaced.
Despite "thoughtless abuse", for example by right-wing radicals, the actual purpose of the deliberately simple symbol remains: "It stands for faithful fulfillment of duty and honoring the fallen and missing, all victims of past and present wars."

At the subsequent general meeting in the Hepting Inn, the chairman began his review of the year with the pleasingly stable membership, thanks in part to the new history section: 144, including 13 women.
He also recalled the “Kreiskrieger comparison shooting” in Gundihausen, in which the club was again represented by five teams.
Outstanding: Rudi Kieslinger, 1st place in the individual rifle ranking, the 2nd team with 7th place and the 1st team with 8th place out of 38 teams.
Club is happy about record results
The in-house collection for the German War Graves Commission achieved a new record result of 2,611.50 euros in the three districts.
A lot is planned for 2024 too.
The local clubs' trip to Berchtesgaden in September will also lead to the newly designed documentation center on the Obersalzberg.
