Franconia is threatened with a weather rollercoaster: first squalls and heavy rain, then a temperature rise of up to 15 degrees and finally frost again.

Nuremberg - On Wednesday, February 7th, "a cold front will reach us from the north, which will temporarily become stationary between Bamberg and Forchheim and then slowly move back north again (as a warm front) on Thursday." This is reported by weather expert Stefan Ochs (

wetterochs.de

) in its forecast for Franconia.

This will ensure long-lasting and heavy rainfall on Wednesday, February 7th and Thursday.

Weather in Franconia: Stormy gusts and heavy rain

The temperatures are quite consistent at 10 degrees, the wind picks up at times.

According to Ochs, stormy gusts are even possible locally on Wednesday.

In some regions of Franconia, the German Weather Service (DWD) also warned of squalls on Wednesday.

“The areas on the Main and further north will temporarily come to the back of the cold front on Thursday night and in the first half of the day with a temperature drop to 4 degrees and weak northerly winds,” according to Ochs’ forecast.

Rainfall amounts of around 20 mm are expected in the areas south of Nuremberg.

“Things look critical from Nuremberg northwards with amounts of 30 to 60 mm.

If it really rains so much, a flood is to be expected because the ground is completely saturated with water (there are often still puddles in the meadows), which could also affect built-up areas to a greater extent," warns the weather expert.

The DWD has also already issued a warning of continuous rain for some areas (including the Nürnberger Land district from Wednesday to Friday afternoon), where meteorologists are talking about 50 liters per square meter.
