The Würzburger Veggie Bros are threatened with insolvency.

To prevent this, the two owners turn to their customers emotionally.

Würzburg – Vegan kebab, falafel wraps, burger with spinach-kale-oatmeal patty or hummus plate.

This is just a small excerpt from the Würzburger Veggie Bros menu. Steffen Jakel and Manuel Häußler have been selling vegetarian and vegan street food on the Juliuspromenade since 2014.

But now the locality seems to be struggling financially.

The two founders posted a cry for help on Instagram and Facebook.

Snack bar owner: Started as a “greenhorn”, developed into an institution in Würzburg

Jakel and Häußler founded their snack bar ten years ago.

They wanted to show “how delicious vegetarian-vegan food can be,” as the two write on their social networks.

Back then they started out as “two greenhorns”, but their snack bar has blossomed into a “Würzburg institution”.

With their success, they “disproved” doubters.

Til today.

Because now the concept doesn't really seem to work anymore.

In September 2023 they had to close their branch on Sanderstrasse.

Now the headquarters is also threatened with insolvency and closure.

“We always make economic decisions with our moral compass in mind.

For us, success means that everyone benefits,” write the Veggie Bros on their website.

Currently they no longer benefit themselves - at least financially.

“The aftereffects of the pandemic, the cost explosions and a massive drop in sales this winter have depleted our financial reserves,” the post says.

Würzburg snack bar with a direct appeal: “Come by”

In order to prevent the worst, Jakel and Häußler make a direct appeal to their Würzburg customers: “Come by in the next few weeks.

Eat and drink something delicious from us or order something home.” Every euro more can make a difference for the Veggie Bros.

Some users commented on the post and assured their support: “We can’t allow that,” “We’re happy to come!” and “It would be a great loss if you no longer existed…” The Veggie Bros are probably dependent on that It's not just the comments, but the people of Würzburg actually order one more falafel wrap or hummus plate than usual.
