“Our big decisions”
, this Wednesday at 10:45 p.m. on France 2,
Hugo Clément
moves away from the environment to focus on more societal subjects.
For 1h30, the 34-year-old journalist and host will host live three people faced with an important choice.
Should I quit my job as a hospital nurse?
Should I buy a smartphone for my teenager who is entering sixth grade?
Should I have a vasectomy?
“Societal themes that the French are going through.
Everyone has, in their life, big decisions to make at a certain moment, whether private or professional,”
he summarizes.

To help them make their choice which could, if necessary, change their lives, these witnesses will be able to count on the presence of specialists who will provide their analysis or other people who have experienced the same situation.
“In these moments of big decision, we often have the desire and the need to be advised and to benefit from the experience of people who have already gone through this type of questioning.
Supporting French people in decision-making is the whole idea and the whole point of “Our big decisions”
,” adds Hugo Clément.

Throughout their exchange, viewers will be invited to vote for one of the two solutions by SMS.
An obviously consultative vote but which could provide an indication of the opinion of the French.
“And it helps guide certain choices when the decision is difficult to make
,” specifies the journalist.
Finally, according to witnesses, the show will be able to return to some of them to find out their situation in relation to their choice.
The idea for “Our Big Decisions” came to Thierry Ardisson in 2008 while he was taking a shower.
“All the broadcasters to whom I proposed it always replied that it was too expensive live and they wanted to have the public vote on set, which I refused
,” underlines the man in black.
And when he met Hugo Clément for the first time, it was obvious.
“Filming the pilot went really well.
I was afraid he would be a little tense, too serious but he was great, he understood the trick straight away, he was nice to people, he moves on set, he's the reincarnation of Jean -Luc Delarue
,” he adds.
““Our big decisions” takes me out of my comfort zone”
Hugo Clement
Compliments which necessarily flatter Hugo Clément for whom “Our big decisions” nevertheless represents a real challenge.
“We wondered if I was the right person to do this show because it changes a lot from what I do on France Télévisions.
And very quickly, the answer was that I wanted to do it.
In “On the Front”, I also deal with social issues, that has always interested me.
In addition, I wanted to do something other than “On the front” and not lock myself into a single specific format.
On set is not a new exercise, on the other hand hosting a show on set, which is live, takes me out of my comfort zone
,” he comments.
By launching “Our great decisions”, France 2 reconnects with the social debate long embodied by Jean-Luc Delarue.
However, the channel and Hugo Clément want to avoid too many comparisons.
“It makes me happy but these are two shows that have absolutely nothing to do with each other.
The mechanics are different and the themes will be different because society has changed
,” specifies the journalist.
“It’s a somewhat new proposition, a different and modern experience
,” adds Nicolas Daniel, director of magazines at France Télévisions.
For this new original format, France 2 opted for weekly broadcast in bursts.
This way, casting research is made easier.
“In each case, there is a witness and four experts, that’s a lot of people and it represents a lot of editorial work
,” emphasizes Hugo Clément.
It now remains to be seen whether viewers will be there.
