“Their lives will never be the same again because of me.”
Before answering questions from the Assize Court of Appeal on Wednesday morning, Mickaël Philétas, sentenced to life in prison at first instance for
“assassination”
and
“attempted murder and sexual assault”
, made a point of
“presenting his apologies”
to the victims and their loved ones.
Standing in the glass box of the accused, looking towards the mother of Mélanie Ghione, Mallaury and Brayan, respectively the daughter and the companion of the victim, the former self- proclaimed
“seduction expert”
expressed his regrets about the crimes which committed him are blamed.
The deafening silence in which he had walled himself during his first trial was replaced by a speech of contrition:
“It’s all my fault and no one else’s.”
A repentance difficult to hear for Mallaury who, seeming on the verge of letting his rage explode, jumped from the civil parties' bench when Mickaël Philétas uttered his first words, before sitting down again.
