Although the Hallbergmoos middle school is only 15 years old, the roof needs to be renovated for a whopping two million euros.

There is great discontent in the town hall.

Hallbergmoos

– The building on Utzschneiderweg in Hallbergmoos is still young – and yet it is already in need of renovation.

The middle school was inaugurated in 2009.

The community had invested nine million euros.

In 2015 an extension was added for three million euros.

But as it now turns out, the construction work was obviously not done properly.

The photovoltaic system on the flat-sloped metal roofs was not installed professionally.

“It is a combination of many causes,” said Benjamin Attensberger in the Hallbergmoos building committee on Tuesday.

Not just “significant” moisture damage

The head of the building management department pointed out the most serious deficiencies: In the area of the eaves, the intended roof pitch was seven degrees below the intended level.

In addition, the PV system is not attached to the metal roof according to recognized technical standards.

Furthermore, no sections were formed, which resulted in stress cracks and “significant” moisture damage.

There was correspondingly great lack of understanding and displeasure in the committee: “Such defects after such a short time?

“That can’t be true,” said Sabina Brosch (Greens).

Thomas Henning (FW) and Wolfgang Reiland (Unity) also expressed their anger about the incorrect assembly, which remained uncomplained by the construction supervisory authority.

However, you can no longer take recourse against craftsmen and specialist planners: “We have already checked that.

The warranty period has expired,” Attensberger regretted.

It is unclear whether the full extent has yet been grasped

The department head, who has only been at the town hall for a year, is not even sure whether the full extent of the damage has been assessed.

“We have not yet opened and examined all parts of the roof.” According to an initial rough estimate, 1.7 million euros were estimated for the renovation, but as a precautionary measure, two million euros were set aside in the budget.

The committee grudgingly agreed.

Attensberger assured, however, that “I will take a very close look at the roof renovation.”

IB Konrad GmbH & Co. KG from Jetzendorf was commissioned with the renovation.
