The police officer has no history of domestic violence and no complaint had previously been filed by the victim, according to the prosecution.
The CRS is suspected of having attacked his partner on Sunday during an argument at the couple's home in the village of Laperrière-sur-Saône (425 inhabitants, Côte d'Or).
The wife managed to escape, the police officer retreating into his home, which provoked the intervention of the elite GIGN unit in Dijon.
