The Erich Kästner elementary and middle school in Höhekirchen-Siegertsbrunn is getting a digital exercise path with a power path.

A first in Germany.

Höhenkirchen-Siegertsbrunn

– According to Simon Hahnzog, there are already around 550 Gemara power paths in Germany and Austria.

The opening of the digital exercise path at the Erich Kästner elementary and middle school in Höhenkirchen-Siegertsbrunn is a first for the managing director of the Munich start-up company Gemara.

It is the first educational institution in Germany to receive a power path designed by him - and it's free of charge.

Hahnzog himself donated the so-called Erich Kästner Strength Path to the school.

“The topic of school is something that moves me,” says the psychologist and entrepreneur, who once worked at a school himself and has since also advised companies on corporate health promotion.

Students and teachers have been under extreme stress since the Corona pandemic, and health care is even more important for both groups.

Two megatrends come together

Four and a half years ago, Hahnzog had the idea of bringing together “the two megatrends of digitalization and health,” as he explains, with the aim of “kicking the fitness path into the 21st century.”

The result is the digital power path, which Hahnzog's company Gemara Health GmbH offers to companies, municipalities and now also schools for a corresponding fee in the mid-four-digit range.

In order to use a strength path, you need a smartphone, headphones and the Gemara Health app.

With the help of the app you can see on a map all the power paths that exist in the surrounding area.

This also allows you to find the starting point including the QR code, which you can use to start the digital fitness path.

Health promotion and prevention

“It’s not a sports app,” emphasizes Simon Hahnzog.

His path is not about optimal fitness or improving performance, but rather about health promotion and prevention on three pillars: “For the body, but also for mental and social health,” says Hahnzog.

Once at the starting point, the visitor can decide which of the three paths - body, social or mental - he would like to take.

Depending on what or how he is feeling at the time.

Are your eyes really tired from sitting in front of the computer all day?

Do you feel angry, sad or disliked?

Or is everything too much for you today?

For each theme world there is an 800 meter long circular route with seven stations where coaches present physical or mental exercises in short videos.

For example, you are encouraged to move your facial muscles, roll your eyes or get to the bottom of your own doubts.

Gift to the school family

Vice-principal Michaela Bonnkirch-Sapper considers the Strength Path to be an ideal gift for the school family.

Because not only the teachers, but also all students from the age of teenagers could use the path.

“After the corona pandemic, we are trying to get the students back outside and into nature,” says Bonnkirch-Sapper.

This fits perfectly with the Kraft-Weg motto “Get out there” (Gemara).

Incidentally, it is thanks to the vice principal that Hahnzog donated his strength path to the Erich Kästner School of all places.

Because on their initiative, students modernized and digitized the 50-year-old fitness trail in town last year.

When Hahnzog read about it in the newspaper, he was thrilled and immediately contacted the school.

The whole community should benefit

The entire community now benefits from this.

Because every citizen who downloads the app can use the Gemara path and, as Bonnkirch-Sapper puts it, do something for themselves mentally and physically: “We all have back or neck pain – no matter how much yoga we do .”
