Prince William must represent King Charles, who has been diagnosed with cancer.

But in his only appearance he disappears again.

Windsor – King Charles (75) left London after his cancer diagnosis was announced.

He wants to familiarize himself with the shocking news in Sandringham and has now handed over the official duties into the hands of his heir to the throne, Prince William (41).

But he only has two appointments to complete on February 7th, after which there will be a yawning emptiness in the calendar until further notice.

Prince William: First public appearance after operations and King Charles' diagnosis

There is a lot on Prince William's shoulders at the moment: his wife Princess Kate (42) is currently recovering at home in Adelaide Cottage in Windsor after an abdominal operation with an unknown background and the severity of which cannot be estimated.

The father of three had actually canceled all appointments so that he could devote himself fully to caring for his wife and three children when King Charles announced his cancer diagnosis.

There's no question that Charles needs to slow down.

Prince William therefore took over the duty on behalf of his father in the morning at Windsor Castle on Wednesday.

The morning's pictures show a smiling heir to the throne who gallantly presents over 50 honors and doesn't show anything beyond that.

Professionally, he made little jokes with former Manchester City footballer Ellen Convery, to whom he presented the “Commander of the Order of the British Empire” medal.

He made charming small talk, appeared interested and self-confident.

In the evening he is expected at a gala dinner in London, where the Prince of Wales is indispensable as patron.

The London Air Ambulance is apparently so close to Prince William's heart that he takes it upon himself to leave his family alone for a short time.

The British royal family usually publishes the planned appearances eight weeks in advance, but either King Charles' absence has now thrown everything into disarray, or William's withdrawal remains.

Princess Anne (73) is ready to represent the royals.

In addition to Queen Camilla (76), William is actually one of the few remaining senior royals who could take on tasks.

A thin cast, no doubt, as the Princess of Wales needs to recover and Camilla should probably stay with Charles to support the King in this difficult hour.

So it would have been tight in terms of time to see Prince Harry (39), who had jetted eleven hours across the pond to visit Papa Charles.
