A banal neighborhood conflict, a few skirmishes and suddenly, an outbreak of violence.
On Wednesday January 10, during the evening, a Romanian family of Moldovan origin was attacked with iron bars by their neighbors.
The scene took place in a building on avenue des Diables-Bleus, in Nice.
The suspects, two brothers - also Moldovan nationals - broke down the door of their victims' apartment then hit the father, mother and daughter with a key and metal bars.
The couple's ten-year-old daughter suffered serious head injuries.
Transported to hospital with her mother, she was given total incapacity for work for one month.
Drunk at the time of the incident, the two attackers quickly fled.
One of them was caught without difficulty.
Placed in police custody and then indicted, he was held in pre-trial detention pending his trial.
But that was without counting on the intervention of a judge of freedoms and detention (JLD) who decided to give this man his freedom.

Prioritized files
A decision experienced very badly by the victims, as much as by their lawyer, Me Paul Sollacaro.
“What shocks me above all is that the prosecution did not appeal this decision of the JLD.
While he appeals everything and anything
,” he gets annoyed.
According to him, certain files would be prioritized, to the detriment of others.
“There is a desire to be ultra-vigilant on issues related to drugs.
It's almost political
, he points out.
On the one hand I can understand it, but the same vigilance of the prosecution must apply to cases as serious as this one.
When questioned, the public prosecutor of Nice, Damien Martinelli, specified that
“a ban on contact with the victims”
was taken against the released individual and that
“any breach will give rise to a request for revocation”
of the judicial control.
“Except that in the meantime, this man has returned to his home... right next to his victims
,” says a source close to the case.
It also remains that his brother, another person implicated in this case, is still running.
Nothing prevents the two men from consulting each other in the future.
