An 85-year-old elderly man complained to the police in recent days that a foreign man calls him regularly and tries to extort large sums of money from him - taking advantage of his age and medical condition.
In the investigation, which was opened by the Central Unit of the Central District, the magnitude of the absurd became clear: the main suspect is the security officer of the kibbutz where the elderly person lives.
If this is not enough, he is even appointed by the kibbutz to help the elderly with payment.
The 49-year-old security officer was arrested three days ago on suspicion of defrauding the elderly of more than NIS 300,000 over three years.
According to the suspicion, the money was stolen from the elderly person through impersonation and other fraudulent methods, in order to take advantage of an elderly and helpless person.
The offenses attributed to him at the time of his arrest were abusing by receiving something that is not lawfully due and conspiring to commit a crime.

The Rishon Lezion Magistrate's Court ordered the extension of the suspect's detention for three more days, and today there will be another detention extension hearing in his case.
The judge, Gil Gabai, noted in his decision that the suspect did not share certain details with the investigating unit - but only after they were slapped in his face.
In addition, he criticized the credibility of the suspect's version, according to which he was joking with him.
"Despite the claim that the suspect was joking with the victim, from then until today the suspect did not contact the victim and tell him that he was joking with him. The above raises suspicion that this is not a joke but an attempt to engage the victim who is, as mentioned, a helpless person."
