The maintenance of the pool alone costs 500,000 euros every year (apart from 20 million euros for a general renovation); the deficit in the Bosco summer pool is 400,000 euro every year. The citizens' initiative “Zukunft Gauting” invited Maximilian Platzer (CSU) and Dr.

Matthias Ilg (Greens).

It turned out to be an informative evening.

Gauting

– Dr.

Andreas Albath, chairman of the citizens' offensive “Zukunft Gauting”, could hardly believe that so many people came to the panel discussion in the Bosco's Bar Rosso.

In view of 140 visitors, he explained: “I am a bit overwhelmed by the great interest in factual topics.” That is exactly what it should be about, an overview of “what is going well in Gauting and where things are going wrong”, without the election campaign noise and without going into details to lose.

For this purpose, Albath as first chairman, his deputy Markus Proksch and treasurer Tammo Körner invited two local political heavyweights, namely the CSU local chairman, Maximilian Platzer, and the parliamentary group leader of the Greens, Dr.

Matthias Ilg.

At the start of the two-hour evening, both assured each other of their respect: “We have a fair solidarity, the party color is secondary,” said Platzer.

Ilg saw it the same way: “Many things complement each other well.” The tone was set for an informative evening and an open exchange.

Household

In recent weeks, the main and finance committee of the local council has drawn up an approvable budget in meetings, some of which lasted late into the evening, which is to be passed by the local council on Thursday.

“It wasn’t subject to entertainment tax,” said Albath, who sits on the local council for UBG.

Maximilian Platzer explained the Gautinger dilemma as follows: “We spend more than we earn.

There has to be a big bang at some point.” He advised, on the one hand, to review expenditure and, on the other hand, to consistently designate commercial areas in order to increase trade tax.

The introduction of a second home tax is currently being examined.

Ilg agreed that the municipality's financial situation is “not relaxed”.

However, it will be quite a while before money flows from commercial settlements.

In order to raise money in the short term, he advised installing solar energy on community-owned land, increasing parking fees ("there's 200,000 to 300,000 euros in that"), making a profit in forestry and renting out the commercial boards commercially.

They are currently reserved for the fire department.

“We will not reach a consensus on this point,” said Platzer.

Voluntary services

In view of the financial emergency, the community's voluntary services are always up for debate, especially the Bosco and the summer pool, “our showpieces,” as Körner called them.

Both local politicians made it clear that they would do everything to maintain both, but also added that it was essential to “narrow the gap between income and expenditure” (Platzer).

Andreas Albath was unanimously re-elected as board member.

A visitor asked why people weren't taking advantage of the state government's funding program, which subsidizes up to 90 percent of bathroom renovations.

“That has been checked,” said Platzer.

“The funding would be a maximum of 40 percent.” Furthermore, according to Ilg, the municipality would have to pay many millions of euros in advance, and that is not possible.

“There are many pitfalls that make the funding worthless.”

Living room

Offering apartments that average earners can afford is extremely important to Gauting.

It's not just about the locals, but also about specialist staff (police officers, childcare workers, nurses) who are supposed to settle there.

“This is a key issue,” Ilg said.

With the new construction of the former AOA site on Ammerseestrasse, the Patchwayanger, “we are slowly turning into the home straight,” says Platzer.

It can be assumed that two development plans will be laid out in the first half of 2025.

It will take some time on the Stanz Schmidt site in Stockdorf, where the heirs want to build affordable housing on the eastern bank of the Würm.

“It gets much too high there, higher than Webasto,” objected a visitor.

Platzer pointed out: “We have to go up.

The higher the houses, the cheaper the rents.” Ilg advocated “densification with a sense of proportion”.

In Stockdorf he had “stomach rumbling”.

“Our feeling is that it’s going to be pretty massive.”

Fire station

“Do citizens have to worry that fire protection will no longer be guaranteed in a few years?” Andreas Albath asked the two discussants.

He was alluding to the urgently needed, 16 million dollar renovation of the fire station on Münchener Straße.

Platzer dispelled the concerns: “Our fire department carries out its tasks in an exemplary manner and will continue to do so.” Maintaining the fire department is a municipal duty.

“As far as financing goes, we may have to bite the bullet and sell properties,” Platzer said.

Ilg was more concerned about occupational safety in the fire department, which must also be guaranteed in the transition phase.

He is concerned about the increasingly hot summer and thus the increasing risk of forest fires: “I hope that we have answers to this challenge.”

Geothermal energy

When will geothermal energy come?

One visitor assured that this was an issue that concerned citizens.

“We need a paradigm shift, the community shouldn’t be so passive,” he said.

If there is no money, you can also think about funds or cooperatives.

That was a suggestion that Platzer and Ilg were happy to take up.

However, the CSU local chairman pointed out that this was not a community project, as is possible in the rich Grünwald, but rather that of a company that drills wood on Kraillinger Flur in Unterbrunner.

“The operator wants to continue delivering in 2025/26,” he said – even if the federal government has currently put funding on hold.

If everything succeeds, Handwerkerhof, Asklepios and Co. would be first in line.

It also remains to be seen whether the municipality will find the necessary external companies to expand the pipeline system in time.

Ilg also recommended “a good dose of skepticism” if, for example, in Königswiesen - as in all districts that are far away from the borehole in the west of Gauting - a solution for an old heating system is soon needed.

From his point of view, the topic has been overlooked.

“It's a mystery to me why geothermal energy plants haven't been installed across the board for a long time,” says Ilg.

“It is the ultimate form of energy.”

New board

The annual meeting of “Zukunft Gauting” was extremely short, and the regulations at the beginning were quickly taken care of.

Andreas Albath (chairman), Markus Proksch (deputy) and Tammo Körner (treasurer) stood for re-election and were unanimously confirmed in their positions.
