An electric car battery burned there after a laboratory test - not for the first time.
The damage is high.
Gelting – An electric car battery burned once again on Tuesday afternoon in a Gelting company.
Three fire departments were immediately on site - volunteers from Gelting, Geretsried and Wolfratshausen - as well as members of the district fire inspection and supporting forces.
“We were alerted to a fire in a commercial establishment,” explains fire department spokesman Stefan Kießkalt.
The line-up was correspondingly large.

Some of the emergency services already knew the affected company on Traunreuter Strasse.
It was the third assignment for the testing company “SGS”, which moved to Gelting at the end of 2018.
The company tests various technical equipment for electromobility in its laboratory in the Gelting-Ost industrial area.
“A battery was subjected to a stress test there on Tuesday,” reports Kießkalt.
There was a fire.
“It spread to the building,” said the fire department spokesman.
Police speak of half a million in damage: “Enormous heat and heavy smoke”
The police are investigating what happened.
The deputy head of the Geretsried office, Andreas Feuerecker, said in an interview with our newspaper that it was not an open fire at the commercial establishment.
“There was enormous heat and heavy smoke.” Parts of the building were damaged, for example windows and cables burned through.
According to an initial estimate, the Geretsried police estimate the damage to be between 300,000 and 500,000 euros.
The SGS company did not comment on the incident when asked on Wednesday.
Telephone calls were ineffective and a written query from our newspaper remained unanswered.

In the Gelting-Ost industrial area, the testing company maintains a laboratory in which “realistic vehicle conditions are simulated or accidents are recreated,” as SGS explained to our newspaper in 2018.
A battery burned last summer, and in 2020 it burned in a container with lithium-ion batteries.
Back then, like Tuesday, there was no danger for residents and employees, emphasizes fire department spokesman Kießkalt.
That's why there is no emergency plan for the electromobility laboratory like there is for the so-called emergency operations in Geretsried.
On Tuesday, the burning battery was secured in a diving pool.
This meant that the battery no longer posed any further danger.
