A terrible accident occurred while working on wood in Swabia: a splitting machine severed a man's hand.

Kammlach – A tragic accident occurred in Swabia while working on wood: a man lost his hand in a splitting machine while working on wood.

The police announced on Tuesday, February 6th, that the day before in Kammlach (Unterallgäu district) the man stood on the machine and positioned tree trunks while his wife controlled the device.

However, due to a suspected misunderstanding, the woman turned on the splitting machine when the man reached for a tree trunk.

The blade completely severed his right hand.

His wife immediately bandaged the wounded arm and alerted the emergency services.

They transported the injured man to a special clinic by helicopter.

Meanwhile, the police launched an investigation into negligent bodily harm against the wife.

The report does not say whether the hand can be sewn back on.

In principle, however, this is possible and is called replantation.

Normally, the severed limb becomes fully functional again.

However, the prerequisite is the correct first aid and quick transport to a specialist clinic.

At least the latter seems to have been the case here.
