A fire broke out in a barn at a Rottach farm on Tuesday.
The farmer, himself an active firefighter, quickly got the situation under control.
Rottach-Egern
– A planing machine caught fire in the workshop of a Rottach farmer on Tuesday, presumably due to a technical defect.
The workshop is located in a barn near an agricultural property on Wolfsgrubstrasse.
The farmer, an active member of the Rottach fire department, was able to extinguish the flames himself and prevent the fire from spreading to the building.
Look for embers
His comrades arrived to support him - the alarm time was 6:19 p.m. - and searched for embers with the thermal imaging camera.
After a fire was reported at a farm, the Tegernsee and Kreuth fire departments also responded, but were canceled upon arrival.
Damage is estimated at 1000 euros
As the Rottach commander Tobias Maurer reports, the situation was quickly under control given the preparatory work of the affected farmer.
“That was a few minutes,” he said.
Wearing respiratory protection, the emergency services – around 30 men – carried out the extinguishing work.
The operation was over after an hour.
According to the Bad Wiessee police, the damage amounts to around 1,000 euros.
The machine's exhaust hose and a collection bag for sawdust were destroyed in the small fire.
