This Wednesday, firefighters located the three bodies of residents buried in the collapse that occurred yesterday in a building in Badalona (Barcelona).
Several members of the emergency team have worked all night removing, by hand, the five meters of stones under which the lifeless bodies of the neighbors who were in their homes at the time of the collapse at number 9 of the street had been trapped. Canigó street in the third Catalan city.
The interior of the five-story building—ground floor and four others (20 homes in total)—collapsed on Tuesday morning for reasons that are still being investigated.
The floor of the dining room and a room on the top floor gave way and in its fall it dragged the same rooms on the lower floors with it.
Quickly, the canine unit was deployed to search for survivors and dozens of members of the Generalitat Firefighters, Mossos d'Esquadra, health workers from the Medical Emergency System (SEM) and the Badalona Urban Guard began to work.

A few minutes after arriving at the scene of the accident, the emergency services detected that at least three of those neighbors (a man and two women) could be trapped under tons of rubble.
The Firefighters tried to stabilize the place to work with maximum safety and began working against the clock looking for possible survivors.
The Generalitat Firefighters have worked all night clearing 60 cubic meters of debris until they found the bodies.
The rest of the residents of the property, as well as those of numbers 7 and 11, were located in the Raval de Badalona house and in the Olympic pavilion.
Now they are investigating what caused the collapse while looking for a place to house the 60 residents who have not yet been able to return to their homes, since the two blocks next to the accident were evacuated.

“I was shaving when I heard as if a tornado was coming through the lighthouse.
The noise got louder and suddenly there was a lot of smoke.
“I looked out into the patio and the building next door had fallen,” one of the residents of number 7 Canigó Street recalled on Tuesday.
The Badalona Acull platform published a statement yesterday denouncing the state of many buildings in the city and the lack of Technical Housing Inspection certificates.
The mayor of Badalona, Xavier García Albiol, assured this Wednesday that the property passed the technical inspection just a few weeks ago.
The main hypothesis that the investigation is considering is that the materials with which the attic, where the collapse began, was built, were of poor quality.
Other neighbors pointed out that minor works were being done in that building and perhaps more kilos of materials were accumulated than the dining room floor could support.
The first mayor has decreed three days of mourning in the city in memory of the three victims of the collapse.
“The technicians will be the ones who finish deciding what the causes of the collapse were.
We do not know of any records or incidents on the farm,” he concluded.
Albiol has confirmed that the victims are two women and a young man.
“The boy had just had a daughter a month and a half ago.
He is very tragic and very tough.
Yesterday I spoke with the mother, who had the girl held in her chest, and my heart sank at her feet,” the mayor lamented.

The head of the Investigative Court 1 of Badalona, acting as guard, has taken charge of the investigation that will clarify responsibilities in the event that some type of negligence that caused the collapse is detected.
The magistrate carried out the first removal of the body at two in the morning this Wednesday and in the next few hours she will proceed to the removal of the other two bodies.
