After Peter Wachler was elected to the Bavarian state parliament, Christian Demmler is now taking over the office of First Mayor of Markt Wald.

The former First Mayor Peter Wachler was elected to the Bavarian State Parliament in October 2023.

After Demmler (CSU/non-party citizens) was elected local leader by the Waldern market with a large majority, his swearing in took place at the market council meeting.

Ursula Zech (CSU/PB), the longest-serving member of the council, did this after the audience had previously asked about the chain of office amid amusement.

Demmler said with a smile: “There is no chain of office, they wanted to give me one from the shooting club.”

Marina Kögel (CSU/PB) replaced Demmler in the market council and the replacements in the committees were announced, as they only affect personnel changes within the parliamentary group.

Markt Wald: Thomas Nieberle elected second mayor

Thomas Nieberle (CSU/PB) from Zech and Michael Hartmann (FW) from Robert Schmid (FW) were proposed as candidates for the vacant position of deputy mayor.

With thirteen people present who were eligible to vote, the election for Second Mayor resulted in ten yes votes for Thomas Nieberle.

Like Kögel before him, he was also sworn in by Demmler.

He was then unanimously appointed marriage officer and moved on to the next topics of the meeting with the words “we have rarely dealt with so many agenda items in twenty minutes.”
