The trip is announced while the appointment of the second half of Gabriel Attal's government is hoped, without certainty, for Wednesday.

Pas-de-Calais, affected by several episodes of flooding, was placed on orange alert for rain-flooding on Wednesday, due to bad weather which once again hit already saturated soils.

The prime minister is expected to meet with traders and visit ongoing development work, then have a public exchange with local elected officials, residents and rescue forces, a government source said.

Gabriel Attal went to Pas-de-Calais on the day of the transfer of power with his predecessor Elisabeth Borne, January 9.

In front of elected officials, during a meeting outside the press, he notably confirmed the elimination of the double insurance deductible for affected households and businesses, as well as the mobilization of an envelope of at least 50 million euros for the reconstruction of public facilities in the affected municipalities.

This measure had already been announced in November, at the time of storm Ciaran.

He also announced a reinforced emergency fund for farmers and market gardeners, with an increase in the aid ceiling up to 20,000 euros.

The government has released

“nearly 60 million euros”
