Mindelheim - In just ten months of construction - and right on schedule - the district office was given a new upper floor with bright rooms and space for up to 48 employees and a large meeting room for 20 people.
It was officially inaugurated on Monday, although there is still some remaining work to be done.
The increase was “fantastically and completely successful,” said District Administrator Alex Eder.
Not a square meter of space was used for the construction project, as an additional fourth floor had already been planned when the building was constructed in 1968 and one could now build on these plans.
The extension scores with a whole range of advantages, starting from the sustainable construction in timber frame construction and the high energy standard (KfW 40) to the photovoltaic system (75kWp) installed on the roof and on the south facade to power the district office.
Conventional radiators are unnecessary; the rooms are controlled via the ventilation system.
The cost framework was met at 4.2 million euros, and the PV system cost a further 125,000 euros.
Fourth floor at the district office in Mindelheim inaugurated - mayor sees addition as an “urban development highlight”
Nine planning and engineering offices and 24 companies were involved in the construction.
Both the district administrator and Mindelheim's first mayor, Dr.
Stephan Winter, who sees the increase as an urban development highlight and the Mindelheim location as a location for authorities.
Alluding to the fantastic view on all sides, he advised District Administrator Eder with a smile to locate “strategic departments with foresight” on the fourth floor.

Architect Jochen Schurr (m2s architects) also referred once again to the trademarks of the “forward-looking object”.
The district has more than lived up to its role as a role model.
For Thomas Burghard, head of the building construction department at the district office, the extremely short construction period is “no longer a matter of course these days”.
