Highlights: For 60% of work-study students, apprenticeship training is an important criterion of choice in their (future) orientation. “A CV does not guarantee a contract, but it can be prohibitive,” warns Florence Bourgeais, director of the CFA of the IGS group. To find your current mission within the Purchasing department of Metro France, Capucine Rousseau had two good cards in her deck: Metro France is a long-standing partner of her school.

The big work-study recruitment season begins. The number of offers will increase crescendo, reaching its peak in spring. It is

One fear occupies the minds of future work-study students: not finding a mission in time.

The rise of work-study programs has made support and partner companies important criteria for choosing a school.

Especially for the youngest.

Because if the master's students already master some codes of the world of work, the 1st or 2nd year need to be supported.

“We don’t support a BTS like a bac + 5,” confirms Florence Bourgeais, director of the CFA of the IGS group.

The former need a more personalized approach.

CV, cover letter, prepare your file

Good preparation starts with taking care of your application documents.

“A CV does not guarantee a contract, but it can be prohibitive,” warns Florence Bourgeais.

Yours will be error-free, clear (both in substance and form) and completed with a photo, if possible smiling.

At the same time, it is about targeting the type of mission you are looking for: function, sector, type of structure.

Defining your objectives is not always easy, especially for those who are following a general course and have not yet chosen a specialization.

A criterion that should not be neglected is the location of the mission.

“When the company is too far from where it lives, it is very complicated to manage,” warns Florence Bourgeais.

There is a real risk of demotivation over the months, or even a breakup.

“You must never give up”

Then it's a matter of activating all your networks.

That of your establishment, which undoubtedly receives work-study offers from local companies.

That of your family, of your loved ones.

But also your social networks.

“LinkedIn is a way to reveal yourself beyond the simple CV, by displaying interests, by sharing content on subjects that interest you or affect you.

This sheds another light on your personality,” advises the director of the CFA of the IGS group.

During a job interview, you must be ready to value each of your experiences.

“The manager asked me if I had ever done negotiation.

I told him that I had negotiated baskets during a humanitarian trip to Madagascar.

He laughed, then admitted that it was a good argument!

», remembers Capucine Rousseau, student at Kedge Business School, in Bordeaux (Gironde).

She had already done work-study training before.

“The first time, I had a lot of trouble finding a job.

But you must never give up.

There are offers.

Persevere,” she recommends.

To find her current mission within the Purchasing department of Metro France, Capucine had two good cards in her deck. “The first was that I had completed an internship in another department of the company, which was went very well,” she explains.

The second, and not least, is that Metro France is a long-standing partner of its school.
