Fire in a garage in Schongau: Three people slightly injured and five-figure property damage – police are investigating
A witness noticed flames in a building on Meisenstrasse in Schongau around 5:30 a.m. this morning and reported it immediately.
The integrated control center (ILS) immediately sent fire and rescue services into action.
At the same time, the police also drove to the scene of the fire.
It only took around half an hour for the fire brigade to extinguish the fire, which had apparently broken out in a garage and had somewhat affected the house as well as an adjacent garden shed.
While the garage and garden shed burned out completely, several windows in the house shattered due to the extreme heat.
Three people were suspected of having mild smoke poisoning and were treated on an outpatient basis by the emergency services on site.
According to an initial estimate, the material damage caused amounts to 50,000 euros.
In addition to officers from the Schongau police station, the Criminal Investigation Department (KDD) was also at the scene of the fire to take over the investigation into the cause of the fire for the Weilheim criminal police.
During this morning they will be supported by specially trained forensics colleagues at the fire site.
No statements can be made about the cause of the fire at this time; investigations are ongoing.
