An Italian university graduate has turned shepherdess to keep a northern Italian river's banks tidywith sheep she calls "living lawnmowers".
Economic graduate Sandra Hofer is leading a pilot scheme by the autonomous province of Trentino to keep the local Adige River's sides neat and trim, as well as consolidating its banks with their weight, compacting the earth.
"I studied three years at Bolzano and two at Innsbruck," says ANSA.
"I could have worked anywhere in the world after I graduated butI realized that being stick in an office all day wasn't what I wanted.
"Animals have been my passion since I was a little girl.
So I went back to my roots, I'm a shepherdess and I'm happy".
