This weekend, the United States military launched airstrikes in Iraq and Syria against more than 85 targets related to Iran's Revolutionary Guards and the militias supported by it, in retaliation for the attack in Jordan last weekend, in which three American soldiers were killed.

The attacks, which were carried out among other things by long-range B-1 bombers that flew all the way from the United States, did not directly hit Iran, but did hit Quds Force targets in the Revolutionary Guards.

The attacks are also the most extensive against the pro-Iranian militias since they began attacking American forces in the region after the outbreak of war between Israel and Hamas on October 7.

President Joe Biden said that these are not the last attacks.

"Our response begins today and will continue at the place and time we choose," Biden said in a statement.

"We are not looking for a conflict in the Middle East or anywhere else in the world - but anyone who wants to hurt us should know - if you hurt America - we will respond."

According to the US military, control and command centers, rocket, missile and UAV depots, as well as logistics and ammunition supply facilities were attacked. In total, the 85 targets attacked with 125 precision weapons were deployed across seven different sites - four in Syria and three in Iraq.
