Jenoptik is one of the few listed companies in East Germany.

The Thuringian optics group's business is going well - and it should stay that way, says the board.

Jena - The technology group Jenoptik exceeded the sales mark of one billion euros last year and expects further growth in 2024. The board announced this on Wednesday in Jena.

Jenoptik benefited primarily from orders from the semiconductor industry and, according to preliminary figures, achieved an increase in sales of around nine percent to 1.07 billion euros.

The Thuringian group employs around 4,500 people and is one of the few listed technology companies in Eastern Germany.

“We achieved our sales and earnings targets, which increased over the course of the year.

We were able to push ahead with the expansion of our production capacities as planned,” explained the CEO of Jenoptik AG, Stefan Traeger.

Among other things, a new production facility is being built in Dresden.

In 2023, earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization (Ebitda) rose by around 14 percent year-on-year to 210 million euros.

The Board of Directors assumes that the company will once again grow profitably in the current financial year.

Traeger referred to well-filled order books for the various business areas.

Despite a decline of around eight percent, incoming orders amounted to 1.09 billion euros.

The company stated its order backlog at 745 million euros at the end of 2023.

In recent years, Jenoptik has separated itself from a number of business areas such as military technology and concentrated on its core business with optical systems, lasers and measurement technology for various industrial applications as well as traffic monitoring.

The board wants to present the audited business balance on March 27th in Jena.
