On video: former ombudsman Weinstein on the Levin plan: "This is not a reform.
It's a pogrom"/Walla system!
The former attorney general, Yehuda Weinstein, will testify today (Wednesday) as part of Case 1,000, and while Israel was not in the middle of a bloody war in the south and north, this may have been the main headline of the day.
However, the memorandum of the witness interview, an interview that the prosecution conducts for its witnesses before they come to testify, came into my possession and voila!
And he brings up interesting details.
For example, Weinstein said that in addition to the fact that Benjamin Netanyahu never approached him with a question regarding receiving private gifts, neither did the legal advisor to the Prime Minister's office, Shlomit Barnea Pergo.
Weinstein even added that if Netanyahu had contacted him on the matter, there would have been a written mention of it.
In doing so, Weinstein contradicts Netanyahu's testimony, which he said in one of his police interrogations where he said that he has a legal opinion that allows him to receive gifts from close friends: "It was Weinroth and Shimron, or Weinstein. It could even be Avichai (Mandelblit), I don't remember, I was told There is always no problem."
Arnon Milchan also testified in court as part of Case 1000 that Netanyahu told him that he had an opinion from the Attorney General that allowed him to receive gifts.
However, the defense will try to contradict Weinstein's words today, among other things, by strengthening the assertion that this is not a threshold of gifts that requires legal approval and that there is no ongoing supply line of champagne and cigars for the Netanyahu couple.

Another interesting detail that Weinstein talked about concerns the closing of Channel 10. Weinstein said that regarding his private conversation with Benjamin Netanyahu, regarding Weinstein's position that the closing of the channel should be prevented, Weinstein said that Netanyahu heard his words and did not argue about them.
Weinstein noted that at the end of the day the channel was not closed, but he does not know if this happened because of his own words.
On another topic that is at the heart of the controversy in Israel today regarding the role of the State Comptroller, Weinstein provided an interesting glimpse by saying that following materials that came from the Comptroller's office, he ordered an investigation procedure into Netanyahu's case in the so-called "Bibitors" case.
According to Weinstein, the investigation was closed, but towards the end of his term, new material arrived from the State Comptroller and he ordered the reopening of the investigation and the continuation of the investigation passed to his replacement - Avichai Mandelblit.
On another issue that is in dispute between the prosecutor's office and the Prime Minister's defense attorneys - regarding the opening of tests and investigations against the Prime Minister that claim written approval, an issue that Bihemesh commented on to the prosecutor's office, Weinstein stated that he said his decision regarding the investigation regarding the Bibitors affair in the framework of the meetings that existed and that no official decision was written on the matter .
